OSU leader to visit Coos Bay and Coquille in February

Oregon State University president Dr. Robert W. MacVicar will tour southwestern Oregon February 8 and 9 meeting residents, alumni, and local groups. He will speak to the Coquille Rotary Club, attend a no host luncheon at Timber Inn, and assess timber and livestock industries in the upper Coquille Valley.

State Police move slated for middle of next year

State Sen. Sam Dement says the Oregon State Police office in Coquille will move to Coos Bay in mid 1973 while the Oregon State Highway Division maintenance office stays in Coquille. Gov. McCall and aides reviewed the plan. most highway staff remain, three move to Coos Bay.

SWOCC Honor Roll Lists Three Myrtle Point Students

SWOCC reports nine percent of students on the honor roll with GPAs of 3.5 or higher. Three Myrtle Point area students appear on the honor roll including Paul D. Orchard with a 4.00 GPA, along with Delores Dooley and James A. Peart. An additional 1568 SWOCC students are on the dean’s list for GPAs 3.00 to 3.48.

Bank Debits Increase Across Oregon Banks in 1971

The University of Oregon Bureau of Business and Economic Research reports December 1971 bank debits among 386 Oregon banks totaled 60,138,000 dollars, up from November 1971 and December 1970. Debits rose 0.35 percent from November 1971 and 17.4 percent from December 1970, with total December 1971 debits at about 6.58 billion dollars.

Home Rule Workshop Set for Feb at Coos Bay
