Myrtle Point plans a 166 piece massed band concert under Arnold Melby at 6 p m on Feb 7. A 15 minute comedy sketch Just Justice in the Court by Irving Shea will follow with Judge Schnizelgoof Dick Anderson and Sheriff Beeswax Gerald Davenport among the cast. The Eugrs Five will perform musical numbers.
In Coquille on a Saturday dawn, 20 year olds David Morris and Lawrence Phillips were passengers in a car that hit a bridge abutment. They were hospitalized with noncritical injuries. driver Clarence Miller escaped unhurt. Police pursued the vehicle at about 2 am as it failed to turn, likely traveling 70 to 86 mph.
Reverend John Parrish, pastor of the First Caristlam church, was selected by the Inter-Church Fellowship to head the Myrtle Ames ally vacation Bible school in Myrtle Point. The event runs Monday June 5 to Sunday June 18. Mrs Wilmer A Briggs and Mrs Smith will supervise preschool and junior groups. Primary and intermediate leaders are to be announced.

Judge L. D. Felsheim files for renomination on the Republican ticket to continue his six year term as county judge. He was first appointed by Earl Smell and succeeded E. L. Petersen as state director. Felsheim pledges to maintain fair and progressive county administration and to serve seven years more.
Ritchie Francis announces the opening of a modern Mobil station at Seventh and Spruce streets Myrtle Point. The facility named Ritchie's Super Service Station will offer car washing polishing lubrication pickup and delivery service tire service and truck servicing daily from 7 am to 10 30 pm with Mobilgas and Mobilopt. Francis previously managed Standard Stations in Coos Bay and Medford and is introducing a full service operation.
The county court through the county highway department warns that heavy hauling is forbidden while roads thaw and frost leaves road beds. Read Engineer F A As and Judge L Felsheim urge advance notice to discontinue hauls to prevent damage and minimize traffic disruption. Cooperation from all road users is sought to limit damage and keep normal traffic.
The Myrtle Point Bobcats host the Red Devils of Coquille in a eagerly awaited gym showdown. Coquille trails the series after two losses this season but seeks a reversal against a Bobcat squad aiming to extend a three home-game stretch.
The Weber family reports a sewer pipe near their home spilling putrid water into a gully and backing up toilets and sinks. Neighbors say the foul water has entered their basement, creating a year round odor and health concerns despite prior county health visits.
Receipts from the Christmas Seal sale sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's club total 688.38, with returns still arriving. Mrs. Harold Rauch, sale chairman, says reminder cards from Coos County Tuberculosis and Health association are being sent this week to urge further returns.

The Myrtle Point Pirates defeated the Marshfield Pirates 58 to 45 in Coos Bay, signaling a reversal after the Bobcats led 12-8 in the first quarter. Pinkley and Bingham led Marshfield with 11 points each, Hammack Craven had 7, and Worsham added 6, while Myrtle Point’s long-range shooting sealed the win.
The Pirates dominated the Coquille Red Devils in Coos Bay finishing 66 to 39. Pirates led from start to finish with the Red Devils never threatening for first place.
Bobcats beat Pirates in a close game extending their winless run against North Bulldogs. Report continues on Page Three with details and standings.
The Bobcats took a first quarter 19-11 lead on a free throw by Rick Bingham and built a 34-26 halftime edge led by Bingham and Marv Hammack with 12 points apiece. The Pirates narrowed the gap in the second but could not overturn the Bobcat advantage.
