Six-Year-Old Dies in Car Crash Tied to Liquor
Carl Grove a six year old of Coos Bay was killed when an open car door struck him as the vehicle rolled after leaving the highway near Myrtle Point. Driver Donald Grove Glide Ore reportedly intoxicated with liquor faces possible negligent homicide charges. Passengers Mrs Carol Grove and Jack Grove were in the car on a Glide to Coos Bay trip. The boy had been living with his aunt and uncle since his mother’s death. Police and state officers probe under District Attorney Pickett. Coroner Harold Rushing took the body to Schroeder Funeral Home for disposition after investigation.

Mary M. Schilling, early Coos county pioneer from San Francisco via Connecticut and Panama, died at her daughter's home December 17. She lived in Coos County since 1878 and her funeral was held December 19 at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Clark officiating. Surviving are daughter Mrs. Kilgore and son Joe Schilling of Myrtle Point.
