Dairy Groups To Hold Joint Meet In Coquille
Southwest Oregon Dairy Herd Improvement Association and Coos County Dairymen's Association announce a joint annual meeting on Tuesday February 7 in Coquille at the community building starting at 10 00 a m Presidents J C Davenport and Wayne Russell lead the groups which advance Coos County dairy interests Local dairymen contributed over 3 million dollars to the county in 1966 as part of the farm sector valued as a key economic staple.

Holiday Traffic Deaths Fall Short Of Record This Year
National Safety Council predicted 650 to 750 deaths during the Christmas holiday period but a record was not broken. A total of 602 highway and street deaths occurred in the 78 hour span from 6 pm Friday to midnight Monday. Oregon reported 49 deaths from Dec 1 to 27, down from 69 last year, with a year end total of 669 deaths, below 672 the prior year.

Luhrs Completes Vehicle Mechanic Course at Fort Huachuca
Army Private Paul W. Luhrs, son of Mr and Mrs James G Luhrs of Catching Creek Myrtle Point Oregon, completed a vehicle mechanic course at Fort Huachuca Arizona on December 9. He trained in repairing later al combustion engines and wheeled vehicle chassis components and learned electrical and transmission fundamentals.

Security Bank defers the 10 000 principal on a 20 000 note for the Coos County Fair Association. Help from Brodie Shingle Leep Logging and Georgia Pacific eases finances as President Tom Guerin and fair band members meet with the SBA about 1967 plans. Wood Carving Demonstrations Led by Downing in Oregon Schools
Me William P. Downing of Myrtle Point demonstrated wood carving at Coquille high school as Southwest Oregon Education Center launched its program. The center has since hosted 54 appearances by 15 of 24 local resource people across 70 schools. Downing, councilman elect, presents a 45 minute art program. his works include the State Seal atop Coos County Court House bench in Coquille.

Barrette C Zinn aged 77 died Dec 21 in Myrtle Point. He was born Aug 25 1889 in Mountain View Ark and survived by wife Eula two sons Ezra and Bofis of Myrtle Point a brother Eldon and grandsons James and Don. Funeral services were held Dec 23 at Myrtle Point Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Harold Backland officiating. Burial at Nogrwas Cemetery.
