Funds Distributed to Oregon Museums

The State Highway Division allocated 27 500 to 17 counties for maintenance and operation of local museums in 1972 73 as reimbursements authorized by statute. Awards ranged from 126 72 to 2 534 26 and included Clatsop Columbia Coos Deschutes Douglas Harney Jackson Josephine Klamath Tillamook Wasco and Washington counties with various museum sites such as Flavel House Vernonia Bead Burns Jacksonville Kerbyville and Fort Dalles.

Lee Waters, a serviceman home for Christmas, won the grand prize a color portable TV set in Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas merchandise give away held last Saturday. Mrs Paul Messersmith won the second prize a $100 gift certificate redeemable at local stores. Several other prizes donated by chamber members were awarded during the event.
