Officials respond to a proposed 3.58 million bond for Myrtle Point High School. They say the new water plant will deliver up to 1 million gallons daily and the sewer system serves 3,000 people though nearby population is about 800. Chamber honors Ed Sempert for long service. Edward Sempert Dies After Long Illness at Myrtle Point
Funeral services for Edward C. Sempert were held Monday at Lincoln Memorial Park Memorial Chapel with Rev. Oscar W. Payne. Sempert was a longtime resident, former Myrtle Point Chamber leader, and past master of local Masonic lodges. Mrs Kenneth Peterson won a portable television in a Shop at Home Christmas promotion by the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce.

PP and L will replace incandescent street lamps in Myrtle Point with mercury vapor lights in a phased upgrade begun in 1967. Crews will install 130 to 2500 lumen incandescent replacements with 7000 lumen mercury units and add 21000 lumen lights plus wiring.
