Myrtle Point Tops Bond Drive With Overfill of 100000

The Myrtle Point and Powers communities exceeded their bond drive targets for a 6th Way Loan, with the local quota $90,000 and the section nearing $226,600 in bonds. Residents say patriotism and support for overseas troops spurred the strong showing though final totals were not yet released.

Thomas Pointer Dies in Hospital

Funeral services for Thomas Pointer were held at Schroeder chapel in Coquille. Pointer died Sunday evening after illness. Born March 4, 1864 in Freedom Missouri, he lived in the county 87 years and worked in logging. He is survived by wife Della four daughters Mildred Jacobson Violet Sinclair Myrl Cummings Jane Hornfal and four sons Dale Kirk Melkin and Ralph Pointc.

Dinner Honors Victor and Robert Bushnell in Myrtle Point

Mr and Mrs Elbert West hosted a dinner Thursday in Myrtle Point for Victor and Robert Bushnell. Pioneer Woman Catherine Arnold Funeral Held

Catherine Arnold died at her home on Catreet after a long life that began in England on April 1, 1868. She married A M Arnold in 1881 and lived in Oregon since 1884, later settling in Myrtle Point. Survived by six daughters, two sons, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Mass at St Ann's followed by burial in Norway Cemetery.

Riding Club Elects Officers

Thirty two members attended a Myrtle Point Riding Club potluck at the Legion hall last Friday evening then elected officers for the coming year. Kenneth Anderson Dies in Action in Germany

Kenneth Anderson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson of Ise, was killed in action on December 2 with his company in Germany. Born June 6, 1903 in Lee, he was a Myrtle Point Union graduate and active in F A, Torch Honor Society, and football. He attended Oregon State College for a year and is survived by his parents and a sister Anne.

Christmas Society Events Weave Holiday Cheer

The W. W. and F. club hosted pinochle and a Christmas exchange at Miss Mary Leu Gulver's home with guests including Mrs. mata Breas, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. hobbene, Miss Marie Mighel, Miss Ann Weekly, Miss Louise Dement, and others. A later Santa visit brought candy and nuts for youngsters as adults enjoyed a gift exchange and treats.
