At a Coos branch meeting held in Hammsale the head councilor presided. Ned Ket and Guy Mauney were elected to lead the district for the coming year with plans to continue the existing program funded by 70 cents per troop through the Willianat council.

Port Orford will construct a 300 seat theater under contractor LaRoy Baker son of A E Baker of Myre Point. The frame showhouse will have a cement floor and nearly fireproof construction to ensure acoustics. Baker, already in charge of the administration building, reports strong early success for the project.
Eliss Eva Senete Coquille daughter of Mr and Mrs J Finley Schroeder of Norway has accepted a position as stenographer in the sheriff's office. She will succeed Miss Ruth Stanley who departs after the first of the year to Marshfield to take a new job.
Myrtle Point Bobcats begin league play January 3 at home against Marshfield in a Friday night clash. The six team Coast Conference schedules show Roseburg, Bandon, Coquille, North Bend and Myrtle Point visiting or hosting each week. Both schools are tipped as the top contenders in the circuit.
The Epworth League hosts a ping pong tournament in the Methodist church basement on December 30, with boys' and girls' singles. Entry blanks are from Milton Schroeder and must be returned by Saturday evening December 28. A 10 cent entry fee is required per contestant.

Constance Land wed Land of Marshfield in a home ceremony on December 14 1988 with Rev. Barnett officiating. The bride wore a white dress and veil and carried white chrysanthemums and ferns. A dinner followed and the couple departed for a Portland and Salem honeymoon. The newlyweds will reside in Roseburg after a brief first-week home visit.
