Countty Wide Civic Body Formed in Coos County

A county wide civic body forming the Coos County Chamber of Commerce was organized at Myrtle Point Monday night. Wallace Diment was elected president, Clarence H. Coe vice president, Elton Schroeder secretary, and L H Pearce treasurer with fifteen members present. The group adjourned to Coquille for a dinner meeting and plans include a Marshfield meeting January 13 to adopt by laws and outline projects including a civilian pilot training program at North Bend and ship building contracts.

Townsend Club Elects Officers at Sunday Meeting

Fifty members and friends attended the regular Townsend Club No. 1 meeting at the American Legion Hall. M. R. Lee reported 163 members in good standing with six new members since the last report. officers were elected to lead the group.

Junior Play Well Received by Full House

The Junior class presented a well received show titled Hottentot on Friday. Wendell Hell starred as Sam Marrington with Patty Druliner as Peggy Fairfax delivering strong performances. Charles Wilson stepped in at last moment for Townsend in a scene with Robert Knapp. Intermission featured Rita ry as editor and Louise presenting gifts to cast and crew.

Santa Claus to Visit Myrtle Point for Christmas Cheer

November circulation at Myrtle Point library rose by about 300 books. Two thirds came from children’s shelves, with October child loans at 430 and 669 the previous month. Adult loans fell from 1135 to 1057 in October and November, totaling over 1900 for November. Librarian Bele Whitaker credits National Book Week and extra promotions for the increase.

Post Office Opens Saturdays for December Shopping

Churches in Myrtle Point join for a Christmas service at Union High School on Sunday night December 15 at 7 30.
