Wreck on 8th Street After New Highway Opens

A car driven by Walter James Royevick collided with a truck driven by Frank James Rowley on 8th street Spruce after the new highway portion opened last Thursday. Royevick and passenger Mr. Parker were injured lightly while Mrs. Parker suffered a badly twisted knee and shock. Royevick and Parker are reported recovering. The incident highlights Spruce street no longer being the through part of Highway 42 and suggests installation of red and green signals at 8th and Spruce.

Myrtle Point merchants hand out tickets to customers with chances to win hundreds of dollars in prizes. The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event with Hiland Theatre and Lions Club cooperation. 208 Pomona and Subordinate Grange Officers Installed Sunday at Coquille

The Coquille event installed 208 Pomona and subordinate officers for Coos county granges with Lane county installing team. Over 300 attendees heard Ralph E. Rogers of Santa Clara grange lead the ceremony and John Carman was named Coos county Pomona master with daughter Kathleen as Juvenile Master.
