A car driven by Walter James Royevick collided with a truck driven by Frank James Rowley on 8th street Spruce after the new highway portion opened last Thursday. Royevick and passenger Mr. Parker were injured lightly while Mrs. Parker suffered a badly twisted knee and shock. Royevick and Parker are reported recovering. The incident highlights Spruce street no longer being the through part of Highway 42 and suggests installation of red and green signals at 8th and Spruce.

The Myrtle Point Jaycees seek the area’s outstanding young man age 21 to 34 for community contributions this year. Alvin Reed leads a committee canvassing clubs for nominations with blanks available at Foad's garage or by request. The winner advances to the Oregon state Jaycee contest. Committee members include Elden Brodie Paul Franzen and Rev Lloyd Swenson.
The First Methodist church choir directed by Mrs. John will present The Bethlehem Star a Christmas cantata on Sunday night December 13 starting at eight at the panthe and featuring specialty parts Mrs Loren Sabin will preside at the Baldwin organ Choir members have prepared for weeks and promise a fine program The public is invited to attend.
The Coquille event installed 208 Pomona and subordinate officers for Coos county granges with Lane county installing team. Over 300 attendees heard Ralph E. Rogers of Santa Clara grange lead the ceremony and John Carman was named Coos county Pomona master with daughter Kathleen as Juvenile Master.
The Myrtle Point junior chamber sponsors a Christmas Lighting contest to brighten the season. Houses build or display scenes in three cost groups under $15, $15-$30, and over $30. Entries within Myrtle are eligible and judging is December 28 1968 from 7 to 11 pm by the Jaycee committee using merit, lighting, technique, originality, and ingenuity.
Colonel W L Winegar Port land district engineer will meet Coquille River watershed groups Thursday night December 10 at 8 00 pm in the extension offices conference room court house to discuss water conservation plans. The event brings together county and city officials farm groups chambers of commerce civic groups industrial groups port commissions and others with a stake in the Coquille river valley water central program.
The Coos Curry Pioneer and Historical Association holds its final Centennial year meeting at the Coos-Curry Museum in North Bend on Saturday December 12 at 1:00 p.m. Open to all with reports of interest and women of the Coquille valley serving cake and coffee.
The Myrtle Point city council approved a new ordinance regulating street vehicle weights. It bans unpermitted trucks and those without pneumatic tires from city streets, effecting heavy haulage and trailer operations.
Myrtle Point PTSO holds its regular meeting December 15 at 8 p m in the high school cafeteria. Ms Karl Dement directs entertainment including an excerpt from The Magic Flute and Handel's Messiah. French carols sung by Dolesal’s class. A reorganization Q&A session is planned. Dr William McLean will discuss his Russia trip. February guest speaker Sissi Skauge from Norway.
