Hammack led Myrtle Point High with 19 points as the Bobcats defeated Coquille 50 to 40 after trailing 23 28 at halftime. The team pulled away in the third with a burst led by Hammack and teammates. Myrtle Point followed with a 53 26 win over Florence and set upcoming games against Ashland and Rogue River.

Arnold Returns After Shipment Purebred Sheep

Martin Arnold delivered 43 Romney and Lincoln sheep to New Orleans for the Ecuadorian government arriving Dec 1 after an eleven day train trip from Gaylord. The journey home was uneventful with rest in New Orleans before a 14 hour flight to Cuena. A celebratory welcome was planned in Ecuador and the herd would move to humid fertile valleys along the Rio Ramba after arrival.

Bible Teaching Plan For Local Pupils

Beginning Monday and continuing through next week, a Bible and citizenship course is conducted for Myrtle Point pupils. Miss Elizabeth Bluhmhardt of Elgin North Dakota and Miss Jean Greenman of Meadville Pennsylvania represent the Christian and Professional Women of the United States. Classes meet in the First Presbyterian church auditorium from 230 to 330 PM with school authorities endorsing the effort.

Churches of Coos organize clothing drive for Europe relief

At the Coos County Council of Churches annual meeting in Coquille on Sunday December 4, 56 bags of clothing were collected to aid European relief. Myrtle Point churches aided the drive and a radio program with COOS and KWRO was planned. Each church will contribute $5 to fund the effort and a centralized teacher training school was proposed. A committee was formed to advance the project. The next meeting will be January 8 at the North Bend Presbyterian Church.

Bucks Fall to Powers in Myrtle Point Tilt

The Powers town team defeated the Myrtle Point Bucks 50 to 49 in a tight showdown. Grove of Powers led with 14 points, while Kel sey and T Grove added 13 and 12. Bucks leaders were Lewellen and Walton with 16 each.
