A blaze started by defective wiring gutted the Dom and Fern Steen house on Reedsford Road, built in 1890 by Oscar Reed and long owned by the Reed family. The structure burned completely, with the nearby ranch Keels also tied to the Reed lineage, just half a mile from the city unit and fire district boundary.
