Jury Fails To Reach Verdict In $100000 Alienation Suit

In Coquille a jury of eight women and four men deliberated about nine hours on the $100,000 alienation of affections suit between Irene Billingsley of Portland and Ardyce Christensen of Myrtle Point. The panel reported they could not agree, and Judge William East discharged them as a mistrial. The retrial date is not yet set.

Myrtle Point adopts a new city administration after the November 4 election. Jack Dunn becomes mayor with Nick Perkins as recorder Florence Miller treasurer and councilmen Robert Belloni Bill Eads John Heeren. Retiring officials are Mitch Myers Harold Stemmler Walt Crim. An improvements plan for the school area, led by Harold Watzting, is approved to form an improvement district with a $100 000 cost funded by district bonds if cash is unavailable. Mrs Lever Dies After Long Cancer Fight in Oregon

Mrs Henry Lever mother of Mrs Karl Dement of this city died in McMinnville hospital on November 23 after a prolonged cancer battle. A former Myrtle Point teacher and athletic coach’s wife, she was born November 17 1888 in Valley City North Dakota and graduated from Valley City State Teachers College where she excelled in music. Services were held in McMinnville with burial at Evergreen.
