Sponsors included Richard Miller, Harvey McCall, Donald Peterson, Dick Wilson, Bill Davenport, Dean Peterson, Arnid Jalo, Bob Collver, Tommy Trolard, Henry Van Cilcar, Frank Moore, Dean Van Leuven, and Gaylord Mom, with firms and banks from Coquille, Myrtle Point, Coos Bay, North Bend, and Bandon backing the event. The crowd roared as contenders battled for supremacy and prizes, signaling potential long term impact for the fair's youth activities.
Little Donald Maat son of Mr and Mrs Milton Mast won the sweepstakes in the Myrtle Point fair parade children's division for his Don's Covered Wagon. The event featured decorated pets bikes wagons and costumes with Roseburg logging truck and local floats among the entries.
Seven babies arrived at Mast hospital during fair week. Myrtle Point had two with a daughter and a son, while five others across the county received one each: Broadbent Coquille Bridge Ago Fairview Route and Myrtle Point. Parents and birth dates listed.
Frank Menry announces tickets for the American Legion junior baseball banquet, to be held September 12 at the Legion hall, with sales through The Sempert Drug and other outlets. The Oregonian sports editor Local Legion urged to reserve early for equal opportunity to attend.

Frank Burbank says construction of a new Arago cheese plant will start soon and be operating shortly after the new year. The one story factory will cost about 80,000 dollars, measure 100 by 60 feet, with another 926,000 dollar check on Oregon Mutual.
All members of the Valley Country club are urged to attend a meeting at the club Friday evening at 8 o'clock to discuss business connected with the golf course. A buffet luncheon will be served.
Paul Brewer faced a rambunctious buck while transporting soil for a flowerpot. He reportedly shoved a wheelbarrow at the animal, provoking a charge that toppled him. He went for X rays as the buck remained unharmed and Brewer began recovery.
Dean Merrell, a WWII Navy veteran, known as ator in the service, is reportedly called for a physical exam. He is described as having a wife and one child.
