His body was taken to White Salmon Ward for burial. Tittle had lived in Stevenson, Washington, and was released from the service in December after two and a half years in the Philippines and Japan. The report notes the single-vehicle accident near Gaylord. Henry White and Bert King of Catching Creek are among Coosa county ranchers signing up for airplane seeding of range land this fall. The work is to start with the fall rains.
Coquille defeats Reedport 4 0 at Reedport closing the Southwestern Oregon league round. Cape Arago and Powers trail the leaders as Myrtle Point and Bandon suffer losses. Reedport holds 9 2 8 1 8 and Cape Arago 6 8 500.
Two logging incidents are reported at Myrtle Point mills. One man suffered neck and back injuries while another, Buster Van Foasen, 27, was hospitalized after a wood slab struck him, causing chest and internal injuries at Fenkins mill.
Fire crews from Coon Fire Patrol were called out late last week as lightning started a half dozen fires in Camas Valley. The first blaze was spotted early Saturday with more fires reported through the morning around the Signal Tree lookout.
A two-foot live alligator arrived this week at Union High, traced to Harold Amor from Green Cove Springs Florida. Principal Dallas Norton and students managed to recenter confinement after the crate’s issues, keeping the creature secure at the school.

A truck on Highway 101 near Coquille spilled six large logs after a bed broke, causing traffic delays of about five hours. The driver, Sam Booher, was traveling from Archie Train logging camp on the North Fork to a Qavia slough dump when the logs slid off near the bend by the railroad tracks. One log narrowly missed a car as the bed failed heading toward the Coquille-Coca Bay leg.
Bert Pearson adjutant of American Legion Poet No. 98 has blank application forms for terminal leave in his car. The forms are available in Myrtle Point through Mr. Pearson who keeps a supply for veterans needing the documents.
District Warden Keith Young reports a record rise in operating permits within the Cool Fort Fire Patrol territory. About 250 logging operations and mills in incorporated towns and other districts like Bunker Hill now hold permits. A fire at West Myrtle Point highlighted driving hazards as a truck narrowly avoided collision with a northbound car on Fourth Street.
Jack McLarrin defeated George Linn 5 to 4 in the final match of the Coquille Valley Country Club championship. Prizes are awarded by the club as the junior championship continues. Earlier results include David Cooper defaulting over Dalles Farmer and Billy Arnold defeating Hereld Palmer. Labor Day dance at the club invites all. additional details unclear.
A One-Stop service station wrecker assisted with floodlight poles installed at the local high school football field. All work on the poles was donated and footlights will be ready for the season opening.

Friends honored Mr and Mrs Austin Dodge and Dr and Mrs H E Thomas with a farewell supper dance at the reentry club last Friday evening. About twenty couples attended the no-heat affair enjoying dancing and a late supper while Dr Thomas and family prepare for a move to a future home in Salem.
