In front of an estimated 2 000 fans at Cogs County the Coquille team defeated Eugene 11 to 6 in a highly engaging contest. Loggers stars Gilbert Geenen Gullivan led the offense with a home run and two big hits. Coquille gains a shot at the state semi professional title with Salem.

A Myrtle Point trial featured a jury with one woman and five men as Stins liquor defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined 300 dollars and jailed sixty days then appealed. Leo LeBranche and Jense Vandeberg faced disorderly conduct charges and were fined five dollars each. Elmer Knight was fined five dollars for driving with more than three in front. Floyd Price paid twenty five for intoxication on a public highway. Policemen warn pool hall owners to bar minors and enforce the city ordinance to prevent minors from loitering or entering pool halls.

A light shower last Friday cooled the air and reduced dust but did not provide lasting relief from fire danger. The rain was not heavy enough to have a lasting effect on either dust or fire risk, though heavier rains are expected soon. The recent shower was the first in over two months.

Shipments of Fine Cattle From Dement Range to Portland Market
Market reports show Tayler Dement 105 head and Ellis Dement 86 head shipped from the Dement ranges to Portland last week. Coquille and Lakeside loaded additional stock, creating a full train. Ellis Dement’s car led at 12.26 while prices fell to 8. The prime steers, raised on native grasses, had never known other feed. A weekly trainload from Coos county is anticipated as the stock industry grows.
