Timber sales announced for Coos Bay region auction
The Coos Bay Forest District advertised timber auctions with bids totaling 2,670,000 board feet in three tracts. John Cawrse Lumber Co won the main 2,670,000 bd ft tract for 49 200.40, located south of Luxum on the Camas Pandy Creek divide. Other buyers included Barker Timber and Coos Bay Timber Co. The next sale is set for September 19 1958, with details available at the District Manager’s office in Coos Bay Oregon.

Nellie Dement Pioneer Died at Myrtle Point Thursday
Nellie Dement, early Coos County pioneer, died at her Myrtle Point home on Thursday. Born October 16, 1870 near Coquille, she taught in Coos County schools, studied art and music at the University of Oregon, and married William Taylor Dement. Survived by son Wallace Dement of Myrtle Point, daughter Dr Alice Dement of San Jose, a niece and a grandniece. Funeral held August 23, 1958 at First Methodist Church with burial in Norway Cemetery.
