Coos County Receives 176604 Revenue Sharing Funds
Lonnie Van Elsberg, Coos County commissioner, announced the county received 176604 for the period Jan 1 1972 to June 30 1973 from general revenue sharing. The county earned 4278 interest in 1973 73, with no expenditures reported. A detailed use report will appear in The World on Aug 24. records are open at the Coos County Courthouse in Coquille. The Myrtle Point School District 41 board discussed rising costs for meat produce and other foods. Lunch prices will increase for grades 1 6 from 26 to 30 cents grades 7 8 from 30 to 36 cents high school from 35 to 50 cents adults from 4 to 50 cents. Free and reduced price lunches will still be available for eligible families with new forms to be secured.

Powers School Opens Registration For Returning New Students
Powers school district announces pre-registration in school offices during the week before classes start. School resumes Monday August 37. First time entrants need medical forms, the Goldenrod Physics Examination Form, obtainable from doctors or the office. Senior high fees vary by course load with book and student fees plus optional class fees. Insurance is provided at no cost and a student conduct handbook will be issued. Record crowd attends Loggers Shodeo at Coos County Fair
A crowd of 2300 attended the 10th annual Loggers Shodeo at the Coos County Fair. Dan Gibbs set a 28.3 second record in horizontal log chopping and won 140 dollars plus the All Around Loc cer Trophy. Dan West set a 17.9 second record in the choker setting obstacle course and earned 200 dollars and two trophies. Other winners include Bill Owen, Gene Lemmer, Russell Hull, Warres Cribbins, and Keith D. Neal for truck safety awards, plus multiple event winners and prizes totaling over 1700 dollars in cash and trophies.
