Oregon state highway engineer Fred Klaboe urged local government in Coos and Curry counties to help select projects for a 150 million bond fund. He noted 7th district's 7.3 million share, a statewide backlog of 500 million, and the need for citizen participation and local cooperation to maximize the program's impact.

The 4-H exhibit area features an Orient themed display and special IFYE delegates from Thailand and Japan. Opening night program on Aug 25 features Miss Puthachart Malasanta and Shiai Aoi with Awards of Excellence replacing traditional ribbons at the 4-H exhibit building.
State Fair 4-H members enrolled in gun safety will compete in a marksmen ship contest at the Four Corners Red and Gun Club Oregon. 4-H youths bring beef dairy swine sheep and dairy goats to Gate Fair with judging set for Aug 31 and Sept 1. Meal preparation contests and presentations are scheduled throughout the 10 day fair.
Forest Supervisor W P Ronayne announced suspension of camping fees effective immediately across all charge campgrounds in the Siskiyou National Forest. The change complies with Public Law 98 81 signed August 1 1973, affecting facilities at Winachuck Little Red Weed Silehe Grayback and Cave Creek.
Southwestern Oregon Community College aims to recruit students at the Coos County Fair in Keyble Porm where the college’s recruiting van will be staffed to answer questions and provide information to interested citizens.
An open forum is hosted by the Coss Bay and North Bend Chambers of Commerce at the Thunder Bird Motor Inn in Coos Bay on Thursday at 12:00. Ed Whelan of the Oregon Economic Development Department will speak as the state’s economic program undergoes revision by the 1972 legislature.
