State Supervisor Guides Monday Myrtle Point RNA Meet
The Myrtle Point RNA meeting drew about 860 attendees for a passwork drill and retiring march by the RNA drill team. Local performers included June Reed and Stella Marie Lemon baton twirling, Louise Lee and Elfie Johnson singing, and Mrs Ronda Johnson playing guitar and yodeling. Mrs Marlin Evans resigned as focal order recorder after 10 years. a new recorder will be elected in September.

Purchase of Round Church by Myrtle Point Legion
The American Legion post at Myrtle Point completed plans to buy the round building at Seventh and Maple streets. They will convert it into a hall and meeting place for the Legion and community use. The former Four-Square church building will be redecorated and repainted along the roadside. Ernest Watkins, commander, announced the project and expected continued use of the site for Legion activities.

Eagle Hole in One Affects Valley Tourney Lead
Coquille Valley Country Club members from Coquille and Myrtle Point staged a friendly match instead of the scheduled intra city tourney. Captains Pete Norton and Roland Bowers divided players and Lower’s team won with 22 percent points to Norton's 7 percent. J Morgan of Myrtle Point plant hit an eagle on No 2 and a hole in one on No 6 228 yards, joining the Dodo club. Next Sunday's play features a merchandise tourney with Myrtle Point merchants supplying prizes.

More Work Done at Coos County Fair Grounds
The Coos County Fair Association board met to approve 1200 feet of tile drainage at the fairgrounds and more improvements this week for the annual county fair opening September 11. A patriotic program vaudeville acts and added attractions are planned for crowds. an outside speaker is planned for the afternoon with expected attendance of the Coos Bay Pirates Eagles drum and bugle corps and the local high school band participating.
