Local merchants in Myrtle Point announce a second free street dance in front of the post office at about 9 pm, weather permitting, with Graveford orchestra providing music. The event includes a Dollar Day sale as stores offer seasonal bargains and city crews will rope off and clean the street for the occasion.
C. C. Hulet, state grange master and former Myrtle Point Presbyterian pastor, says he might run for Congress in Oregon's First District. He would oppose W C Hawley in the Republican primary if he enters, stressing the grange view that the office should seek the man. The grange HQ will stay in Albany this year, and Hulet has a broad following among grange members and others.
Friends and pupils that attended Minnie Lester gatherings will meet Sunday June 23 at the Norway grove for a picnic. Mrs. Lester visits from California and all friends and families are urged to attend with lunch cups and enjoy a shared picnic dinner.
A boxing event headlines the evening at the Maple Street Pavilion featuring local contenders. Spectators expect a spirited bout night with ringside action and lively crowd energy.
Bridge Obe Aug 12 Attendance at Sunday school was 37 with I J Luttrell and Maude Hooton leading classes under a new youth superintendent plan. C C Halet of Albany will visit for the morning service. Ed Morrison and Maude Hooton had birthday offerings. Silver Tea planned Aug 19 with Helen Whitaker honoree.
The North Fork road will be widened improving a narrow bend near Cooper bridge. County court will inspect the road soon to decide repairs for the dry season. Dirt will be removed from the high bank to widen the bend. the road is currently in poor condition from old construction. The article notes binder material has worn away, leaving rough surface for vehicles.

A letter to The Herald notes Mrs Nellie W Milbury became ill with parasysin on her left side during a Marshfield visit. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in North Bend on Saturday for treatment and would welcome letters or visits from Myrtle Point friends.
County officials report rising interest in the forthcoming fair racing program with seven horses at the track and daily tryouts. The fair board accepts the Coquille band for music and awards the Marshfield orchestra the dances contract for Oaks pavilion evenings. Gov Meier, Hal Hoss, and Rufus Holman respond to invitations. Holman pledges attendance. A chicken dinner for the fair board is praised by attendees.
A dairy barn near Arago Oregon was consumed by a fire Tuesday evening around 7:00 caused by spontaneous combustion. Neighbors and the Quail Creek fire department battled flames but the structure burned, with an estimated $7 000 in damage. Fire started in the hay and spread from the top to the exterior. Nearby buildings were saved by rapid response.
Broadbent defeated Myrtle Point 12 to 10 on Sunday in Broadbent. A social gathering was held Saturday evening at the Azzie Smith home with a late hour lunch. Mr and Mrs 3 S Reed and family visited friends along Catchin Creek and the Burlay fox farm nearby.
New officers take charge for the coming year with Past President’s Day noted on the program. Mrs Grasees presides with Belle Whiteher and Somskia as officers. The meeting will be last Monday each month with committees named for decorations and hospitality.
