Merchants of City To Pay All Expense

Local merchants in Myrtle Point announce a second free street dance in front of the post office at about 9 pm, weather permitting, with Graveford orchestra providing music. The event includes a Dollar Day sale as stores offer seasonal bargains and city crews will rope off and clean the street for the occasion.

Hulet Considered for Oregon First District Congress Bid

C. C. Hulet, state grange master and former Myrtle Point Presbyterian pastor, says he might run for Congress in Oregon's First District. He would oppose W C Hawley in the Republican primary if he enters, stressing the grange view that the office should seek the man. The grange HQ will stay in Albany this year, and Hulet has a broad following among grange members and others.

North Fork road widening planned by county officials

The North Fork road will be widened improving a narrow bend near Cooper bridge. County court will inspect the road soon to decide repairs for the dry season. Dirt will be removed from the high bank to widen the bend. the road is currently in poor condition from old construction. County Fair Will Have Good Races Aimed at Strong Entries

County officials report rising interest in the forthcoming fair racing program with seven horses at the track and daily tryouts. Arago Dairy Barn Destroyed by Fire on Tuesday

A dairy barn near Arago Oregon was consumed by a fire Tuesday evening around 7:00 caused by spontaneous combustion. Neighbors and the Quail Creek fire department battled flames but the structure burned, with an estimated $7 000 in damage. Fire started in the hay and spread from the top to the exterior. Nearby buildings were saved by rapid response.
