Coos County Fair Opens With Rodeos and Earth Day Theme
The 63nd annual Coos County Fair begins Wednesday August 15 at Myrtle Point fairgrounds with Back to Earth Days. Three rodeo shows occur Friday and Saturday, plus live midway entertainment by Bob and Faye Morris Tony Booth and others. A downtown parade starts 10 a.m. Saturday and the Logers Shadowa closes Sunday night.

Next week's Myrtle Point Herald will publish a full page of coupon offers tied to the Fair and Back to School Days. The Retail Trade Committee of the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce sponsors the promotion, running Aug 15 to Aug 31 with offers valid through the end date. Finalists Qualify For Shodeo Events At Myrtle Point Fair
Eight contestants advanced from four elimination events held Saturday at the Myrtle Point Fairgrounds. In the four events Powder pulling bucking and others, top finishers included Judy Miles Coos Bay and Dan Gibbs Lloyd Anderson team, with several drivers and loggers earning places. The competition will culminate in the 11th annual Loggers Shodeo on Sunday August 18 with a potential 8075 in prize money.
