The Myrtle Point FFA sent judging teams to the Jackson County FFA Fair in Medford on August 4 1975 with 12 other chapters. Richard Proffitt led MP as top dairy judge while MP placed tenth among 11 teams. Stanley Stewart finished fourth among livestock judges as MP placed eighth of 12. Upcoming contests include Curry County Fair in Gold Beach on August 7 and Douglas County Fair in Roseburg on August 8. The MP chapter will enter 23 cattle four scramble heifers and nine sheep plus other entries at the Coos County Fair.

More than 100 contestants competed in the Loggers Shodeo eliminations at the Myrtle Point fairgrounds on August 2. Winners earn a shot at a $2,500 prize on Sunday August 17 at 2 pm. Mike Johnson of Wesleg posted a 1 07 time in the log time trial. Dan Gibbs led eliminations with a perfect score of 18. Kent Hubtell and Arlis Busby matched the shadeo record with 14 points. Gene Lemmer won truck driving with 340 points. Fred Nagel ran the fastest bucking time at 43.4 seconds, while Dan Gibbs holds the 35.0 seconds record. Other events included power saw bucking and powder puff bucking won by Kathleen Littleton.
