Harold Reed, Pvt. Harald Reed, died in action with the Marine corps on Saipan Island in the Pacific. He enlisted October 21, 1943, trained in the States, and served in the South Pacific with his unit. Army Horses Fetch High Prices at Myrtle Point Sale
A crowd of hundreds attended the government riding and cavalry horse sale at the Myrtle Point Fairgrounds. Fourty four horses, from Howser Bandon and Marshfield, aged 7 to 14, were sold in about two hours with prices from 67.50 to 117.50 and an average of 113.29. Most bidders were from the Coquille valley and officials expect more entries at next month's horse show.
