Track Meet Set For Bay Fair Grounds Big Meets Postponed
The annual county track meet featuring Coquille Marshfield North Bend Myrtle Point and B class Bandoy and Powers was postponed due to wet grounds. Events begin 10 30 a m and 1 30 p m with hurdles shot put pole vault and running races 100 to mile. Myrtle Point won last year 66 40 over Bandon and is favored again. Hod Turner of Roseburg is referee and C L Church of Myrtle Point is clerk.

Aged Pioneers Honored At Myrtle Point Event
The pioneer gathering at the Myrtle Point Presbyterian church honored the town’s oldest attendees led by Ellen Robison 95 and Leander Neideigh 86. Catherine Arnold 87 and Isabel Whittington Emma Lowe 85 tied for third. Ed Jones 81 and Cal Gant 83 were the second and third oldest men. Mr and Mrs Ed Jones celebrated 55 years married. Mr and Mrs Cal Gant 63. Selden Warner 78 and Kate Hodson 77 were the longest residents respectively. Mayor Jesse D Clinton who turned 70 won a door prize amid 76 guests. The program featured readings, music by local artists and a brief address by Arthur R Jones. refreshments followed.

Funeral services for Mary Christina Grant 68 were held at Schroeder funeral chapel Myrtle Point on Tuesday at 1 30. She died Monday at her Gaylord home and is buried in Neal cemetery Gaylord. Born Broadbent December 17 1877 she lived in Coos county all her life. Surviving: John Grant widower five sons Roy Guy Kay Forrest and John Jr plus three daughters Omo Young Wanda Boren and Opal Hamilton twelve grandchildren.
