Taxes 1966 Will Be Up in School Elections

Voters will cast ballots Monday May 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the annual school election plus district 41 and Southwestern Oregon Area Education District budgets. The district seeks a $706 624 75 levy, with 111 053 97 within the six percent limit, and a total budget of 1 177 164 75.

Scholarships Awarded by Oregon State Committee

Five Myrtle Point high school seniors were named recipients of the 1965 66 state scholarship awards. Chosen from over 000 applicants, the winners include Barbara Huff Delores McCue Irene Huff Walter Price and Linda Waterman for one year of free remission and state cash support at the college of their choice.

James Sullivan Named to Harvard Dean's List

Five Harvard College freshmen from Oregon earn Dean's List for fall term 1964-65. James Michael Sullivan of Myrtle Point High School, class of ’68, is recognized for achieving the required B average and will gain greater responsibilities.

Elks Inaugural Ball Set at Coquille Valley Golf Club

The Elks Coquille Valley Golf and Country Club hosts its inaugural ball at the Elks Temple on Saturday evening May 1. Dancing begins at 9 p.m. and continues to 2 a.m. honoring newly elected officers and Emblem Club men.

City Police Charge Man With Drunken Auto Offense

Police charged Thomas Kelly 35 with being drunk in an auto on April 21. He posted 35 bail and forfeited it after not appearing April 22. He faces disorderly conduct for fighting in the street and is to appear in court April 29.

Hollis Mast and Helen Mast Bones were honored as outstanding citizens of Myrtle Point and Powers at a spring banquet in Tioga hall. Educators and community members gathered from Goercum and Usapqua areas. Arago first grade teacher Reene attended. new officers were announced led by Mots as first vice president.
