Oil drilling to start soon near Arago

Ben McMullen announced that WF Kernin and others have become interested in the Arago district prospects. A prospect well will be drilled within about thirty days, with crew, derrick, and materials to be moved from Sutherlin territory. McMullen holds 2500 acres under lease and says reliable backers guarantee the sinking to a determined depth based on oil potential.

Oregon Chamber Leader touts land bureau gains and Los Angeles office

W. G. Ide of the land settlement bureau of the Oregon Chamber of Commerce spoke at Myrtle Point about boosting state advertising. He cited 86 000 acres sold and 13 million dollars generated, noted Coos county lag, and explained plans to open a Los Angeles office to reach southern potential settlers for dairying poultry raising and fruit canning. The chamber seeks more advertising funds, currently provided mainly by Portland businessmen.

Cow Testing Report for March in Coquille Valley

R L Keatley of the Coquille Valley Cow Testing Association reports March results with 85 herds tested yielding 417 617 pounds of milk and 18 565 8 pounds of butter fat from 994 cows, 446 dry. Average per cow milk 420 and butter fat 18 65. High herds listed with owners and averages. Two top cows named Pet of W Cross and 188 from New Lake Dairy with specific milk and fat yields.
