Educators Honor Two At Myrtle Point Banquet
The Myrtle Point Education association honored retiring Maple school teacher Mise Ida Oerding at its annual banquet Monday night and awarded Howard Winkelman its Educational Citizen of the Year. David Dillon presented the commemoration. Winkelman has served on Bridge and the reorganized district school boards for at least 12 years, with an estimated 2,000 hours of school activity.

New Teachers Appointed for School District
School Superintendent Joe Stewart announced new staff for the coming year. Judith Boylan will teach elementary grades, joining from Lakeview 40. Mr Richard Boylan will teach high school history. Ronald Handke comes from Lone Tree Iowa to teach industrial arts. Darth Miller will teach social science at the high school. Mrs Miller Lovelia will teach first grade. Tennis Team Wins Match Against Marshfield JVs
The high school tennis team earned the season’s first win in a two match series, with Marshfield JVs, as coaches Tony Watson Jim McCrae and Rick Van Duine led the team to three victories. Wayne Stout Dele Wilson and Don Zinn went to three sets in most matches. Zinn tied with Dubbing when darkness halted play. Final totals show four wins for Marshfield two.

Mrs Hammar Killed In Auto Crash In North Bend
Patricia S. Hamener 31 of Coos Bay died Friday when the car she drove to a fund event for ALDS crashed near North Bend. Witnesses reported the vehicle left the road and struck an embankment. Hamener was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities investigated the wreck and ordered an autopsy.
