Spring Handicap Close Date Set for April Twenty First
The Spring Handicap at Coquille Valley Country Club will crown its final round after April 21 with Howard, McLarrin, Arnold and Barrows advancing in the quarterfinals. Dutch Clinton and Pete Norton to duel in the consolation finale. An inter-club match against Cottage Grove is slated for April 27. Local residents report attendance is expected.

The Woman's Club will sponsor a three night card tournament from April 14 to May 7 at the WFM Pose. Participants may enter in three groups contract bridge with fixed or changing partners, or pinochle. Prizes, donated by local merchants, will be displayed and more than 380 prizes awarded nightly. A new business opened at Myrtle Point when Mvntie Point launched an electric appliance sales room in the undy Sons Hardware store. Mrs Zola Miller leads sales of Frigidaire refrigerators ranges water heaters and related models in the east front display area. She has prior Bay area appliance experience and moved here in January with her husband, a Mountain States Power service man. Their children Ray Jr and Shirley attend Union High, with another in Junior High.

Thirty six Myrtle Point band members under Director Frederick Dallas travel to Marshfield for the Class C southern Oregon district music contest facing Jacksonville and Powers. Solo contestants perform Friday at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium and Myrtle Point bands perform Saturday starting 1 p.m including one match and two overtures. Lions Eye Hunt Draws Myrtle Point Kiddies
About 250 children from Myrtle Point and nearby areas flocked to the city park for the Lions club first annual Easter egg hunt. Thirty odd dozen eggs were hidden as prizes. Ariene Aasen won the top prize for finding the largest egg, while Robert Lou Rickard received second prize as the smallest egg hunter. Eggs were dyed at Union High School by the Home Economics class with volunteers from Junior High hiding and supervising the hunt.

County Festival Of Music To Be Held 26th
More than 900 children will participate in the seventh Coos County Music Festival to be held April 26 at Coquille High School gym. Details were worked out by the County Festival Committee. Lions Club Hosts To Junction City Delevation
The Lions clubs met in Junction City to compete for the Leo trophy. Members logged scores by multiplying visiting delegation numbers by miles traveled. Junction City led with about 5440 points, while Reedport’s club trailed with roughly 4688. Harold Stemmler and Angus Gideon presided.
