Myrtle Point Sportsmen Club Plans Trap Ground Clubhouse
Architectural drawing shows a Myrtle Point Sportsmen club building to be erected 4 miles north of the city on Gravel Ford road. Secretary Marold Watzling says construction starts when weather allows. The 100 by 38 foot two story structure will house a song and scenic room, indoor range and archery area, a 78 by 38 foot auditorium, a 20 by 30 stage, a 150 couple dance floor, and a modern kitchen with a concrete tile floor. Excavation has already begun.

Clyde Barrows Drowns While Fishing Near Rogue River
Clyde Barrows 62 of Myrtle Point drowned Sunday morning near Gold Beach when a small motel boat capsized in swift water. His brother Glen survived. Clyde’s body was recovered downstream after artificial resuscitation efforts failed. He worked as a saw filer for Coos Bay Lumber Co and is survived by his wife two sons and several siblings. Services were held at Schroeder Funeral Home Coquille with burial in Coquille Masonic Cemetery.
