The Oregon Liquor Control Commission states that three months of alcohol and privi lege tax collections total over three point seven million dollars. The general state fund will receive 3,376,259 dollars, with cities and counties getting 382,244 43 dollars, and available funds distributed quarterly after working capital needs are met.
118 pints were donated at the Myrtle Point blood center, seven pints shy of the 125 quota. The event ended Tuesday evening at 6 98, per Mrs. Jack Duna, underscoring the life saving value of blood. Southern Coos County residents may attend a free event at Myrtle Point High School gym next Tuesday April 19 featuring an action pictures show on deep sea and lake fishing in Mexico. The Myrtle Point Sportsmen Club hosts the event with spin fishing by Coos Bay Spin Fishing Club and invites the public. John Cawrse won the Jim Morris trophy leg with 47 points and Fordyce Worsham was runner-up. Secretary Harold Watzling says Sunday shoots run 12 to 2 p m with further events planned.
Easter event by the Lions Club gave children under six and older groups prizes. First prizes went to Allen Hubbell and Ene Tine Bell, with second places to Marty Jurgensen and Mary Jane Cathcart, among others. The club thanked volunteers from the local high school and residents for support.
Leon G Axelson 64 of Myrtle Point vanished Sunday night as his car plunged 45 feet off Highway 42 near Sugarloaf mountain. The wreckage surfaced Monday morning and the body was recovered from the Coquille river with officials unsure if death came from impact or drowning. He lived alone with two brothers in Chicago and Los Angeles as funeral arrangements awaited word.
The Myrtle Crest community held an outdoor sunrise service at the high school grand stand on Easter Sunday. One hundred twenty five people attended despite a few rain drops, with many praising their first Sunrise Service. A staged Empty Cross faced the crowd as organ music and a focused program led worship, followed by a breakfast in the school cafeteria.
Pacific Power & Light official Growney will speak on industrial development at a Coquille Chamber of Commerce meeting held in the multi purpose room of the high school on April 20. He is a noted industrial planner with experience in the Midwest and Northwest and holds roles with the Oregon Society for Advancement and the American Industrial Development Council.

The Rural school board finished its annual budget review with conservative requests. Total levied around $490000, pending hearings to refine after subtracting $50278.32 from Coos Bay Wagon Road receipts. Subtractions include $47117.17 from rural elementary and $3161.15 from Non-High.
Sanford Walton of Mobile Point was seriously injured in a logging accident at the Coos Bay Sum Co. near Bone Mountain. He was rushed to a hospital and, per Dr. H. H. Thomas, is getting on nicely but cannot receive visitors Monday evening.
The executive and members of the Citizens Com meet with the board and architect to discuss planning and design issues. The session outlines project goals and preliminary timelines for the upcoming development.
In a Coquille triangular meet last week Myrtle Point outscored Bandon and Coquille. Bob Richmond led with wins in pole vault 10 ft 3 in, broad jump 18 ft 2 in, and javelin 138 ft. Myrtle Point took seven firsts including the 300 yard shuttle hurdles.
