Chamber hears legislator on bills and Clean Up Week plans

Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce hosted Rep J H McCloskey of Norway as the guest speaker. He reviewed the last legislature, explained bills, and outlined work on the Lilla to aid the region. The group planned Clean Up Week with the Lions Club and voted prizes for home classes.

McKinley Brown Undergoes Tonsillectomy at Coquille Hospital

McKinley Marvin Brown son of Mr and Mrs Reuben Brown had his tonsils removed on Saturday at a Coquille hospital and returned to school Tuesday morning. Mrs Nellie Brown traveled to Salem Friday for an indefinite visit with relatives. Mrs R H Lawhorn drove to Bandon Sunday with her brother and sister in law and other relatives. Sunday visits included Mrs Clyde Gage of Coquille hosting Phyllis and Leonard Lawhorn and Mrs J K Baker. Mrs Harry Hansen visited Mrs R H Lawhorn Friday. The McKinley Welfare Club met Saturday at the clubhouse with a social hour and a potluck lunch for about 37 members.

Sandy Creek Man Hurt When Thrown From Mule Sunday

Lye Mecum of Sandy Creek was thrown from a mule while changing his position and suffered a brain concussion during Easter Sunday events. He was taken to Mat hospital around 11 oclock and regained consciousness at 1 7 oclock that evening with X rays expected to reveal possible skull fracture.

Lee Mias Lorene Clark and Henry Hansen of Marshfield spent the weekend with Clark's parents Mr and Mrs 8 D Clark and Carl Anderson's family. Sunday dinner guests included Mrs Nora Lewis and Miss Lorraine White of North Bend visiting Miss Kula Mae Gant. Local residents Harold Hal and Miss Marie Clinton joined gatherings with Ben Gant Jr and the Laird family while Port Orford visits occurred.

Galloping Tea Hosts and Easter Parties Noted in Society

Last week the ANA Cards hosted a galloping tea with sewing and refreshments, honoring Mesdames Tripp, Myers, Felsher, Mahaffy, Conley, Mast, Gilkison, Brown, Sparks, Mast, and Nellie Kaont among others. A Presbyterian Easter party plus a St Ann Altar Society card party are planned with games, stories, and light refreshments.

Child Feeding Meet At Gravelford Hall

Myrtle Point golfers won the first inter city tournament at Coquille Valley Country Club defeating Coquille with a 24 percent to 11 percent point spread. Theodore Clinton posted the day low with 74 and Rae OHnson had the high score at 164. Each town fielded a 12 man chosen team in the event.

Payne family moves to ranch near Powers

Mr and Mrs Payne relocate to their daughter Mrs Ges King's home to operate the ranch and start raising cuseens. King works in a logging camp. Several local residents spent Sunday visiting, playing ball, or calling on friends. In Coquille and Pleasant Point, neighbors, and routine tasks are noted.

Townsend Club Plans April Events and Convention

The Townsend club schedules a Friday evening program at the grange hall with dancing afterward. On Thursday April 37 the rl and Boy Scouts of Bridge present Mebgebla Pete at Myrtle Point High School gym. On Sunday April 16 the club will elect a delegate to the fourth national Townsend convention in Indianapolis from June 22 to 36.
