Oil Drilling Off Bandon Shores Near Oregon Coast
An offshore exploration project for oil and gas near Bandon begins this week. About 42 workers operate the Blue Water II, a large floating platform owned by Santa Fe Drilling Co and leased to Shell Oil Co, located 12 miles northwest of Bandon in 60 fathoms of water. A heliport at North Bend Airport will serve as the base, with helicopters shuttling crews to the rig within a few days.

William Keith Bell 39 died March 29 in Myrtle Point. Born August 13 1927 in Broadbent he was a self employed logger. Services were April 1 at Myrtle Point Funeral Home with Rev Gerald Neson. He is survived by wife Connie and children Patrick Conner and Charlotte at home, Rene Davis of North Bend, brothers Milton Myrtle Point Caleb Gold Beach Byron Vancouver Wash, sisters Vernita Barklow June Meade Jerene Salisbury Patricia Parsons all of Myrtle Point. Interment followed at Myrtle Creat Memorial Gardens in Coquille.
