Southwestern Oregon Community College announces the cast for The Importance of Being Earnest directed by Stan Elberson. Tryouts occurred February 26 27 and 28 with rehearsals underway. Reedsport Woman Files for SW Oregon Community College Seat

She is deputy clerk for the Reedsport school district, with 20 years’ service and 18 years in her current petition. Water Works Operators Complete Three Day Training

Vocal music festival set Friday at Myrtle Point High
On Friday April 5 the Myrtle Point High School Music Department hosts the district music festival. About 600 students rehearse at 8 p.m. in the high school gym with choirs from Brookings Gold Beach Pacific Bandon Myrtle Point Coquille Marshfield North Bend Reedport Siletz and Sluslaw. James Savage of the University of Oregon Music School adjudicates. An eight-person honor choir performs from each school and all choirs sing four pieces under Savage. Tickets are 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students and children.

Former DA John J. Pickett Dies in Coos Bay
John J. Pickett 53 former Coos County district attorney died last Saturday in Cove Bay born August 3 1920 in Greely Colorado. He served as deputy district attorney four years before becoming DA from 1963 to 19. Survivors include his widow two sons three daughters mother sister and an aunt. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Coquille Chapel of Cool Mortuaries with interment at Masonic Cemetery Coquille.

New administrator takes charge of DEQ southwest region
