Salem March 28 report on House Bill 425 proposing a 60 million highway bond for southwestern Oregon and a Columbia River bridge at Astoria. An amendment to trim 69 million to 24 million was discussed, with a counter proposal to add 4 million for the Astoria bridge per agreement with the highway commission.
Sherwood C Ide announces selling all holdings except Dawn the monthly paper in Portland Indiana devoted to the Am erican way of life. He plans retirement after five years of building the Dawn program seeking wider circulation and more frequent issues as The American Legion honors him with a service plaque at a Portland banquet.
Leroy Robinson was unanimously elected president of the Coquille Valley Golf Club at a Monday clubhouse meeting presided by Ray Getchell. A new board including George Linn and Nona Patrick was chosen, with Robinson named president and Patrick secretary. The next regular meeting will set plans for the Spring Handicap Tournament and committee assignments.
Wilfred Laird of Griffey and Lincd Logging Corners reports the Myrtle Hotel and Cafe leased to Mr Don Wagner and wife from Hepner Oregon. They plan to open May 1 and relocate to Myrtle Point, housing sought for their family as renovation continues.
Student nurse Miss Audrey Waterman of Sacred Heart hospital in Fugene spent Easter weekend with her parents the Andrew Watermans at Bridge.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Myrtle Crost gym in Myrtle Point next Wednesday from 2 to 6 pm. Local chairman Mrs John Heeren invites all residents under 60 to donate as the need for blood is urgent. Babysitting will be available by contacting Mrs Heeren at phone 1721 to help reach the 600 pint quota.
The Tuberculosis Association announces its annual meeting at Myrtle Grange Hall this Friday evening. The article explains Christmas Seals support TB control locally and nationally, noting that most funds stay with local and state groups, six percent aiding national research.
