Debris Survey Maps Flood Damage Above Six Mile Bridge
A survey of debris from the Coos Bay Wagon Road area above the six mile bridge was led Friday by Vernon Lackey of the Army Corps of Engineers with BPS logging and Coquille river port commissioners Tom Forrest Bob Detlefeen and Erwin Wilberger. They estimate upstream clearance into Douglas County and a five to six month project extending the current Christmas flood emergency efforts.

Track Opens 1965 Season at Reedasport Meet
Myrtle Point High trackmen begin the 1965 season this Saturday at 12 noon at Epee in the Reedasport meet. Twelve schools attend including Newport Toledo Taft Mapleton Reedeport Siusiaw Coquille Pacific Bandon Gold Beach Myrtle Point and Pleasant Hill. All events are relay only. no individual events. MP expects about 30 runners.

Coos Bay Pirates Visit Mingus Park For Midweek Game
Coos Bay travels to Mingus Park to clash with the Marshfield Pirates at 4 30 PM on Wednesday. Marshfield opened the season with a 17 10 win at Bandon. Elder Calvin Hartnell of Portland served Adventist churches locally from 1965 to 6. He oversaw the August 1855 start of the local church building and its April 1987 dedication. The SDA school was built in Coquille. Hartnell now serves as one of three chaplains for the Portland sanitarium. Three Myrtle Point women nursing there are Patty Casper Patty Jones and Caroline Hoffmeister.

Doctor Joins Mast Medical Center Staff
Dr. Patrick Conner and his family will relocate to Myrtle Point in July to join Mast Medical Center. The 30 year old UW graduate, who interned in Pierce County and works with the Indian Health Service in Arizona, expects a baby in May. Clarence Gasper Butler, longtime Myrtle Point resident, died March 25 at 14. survivors include his wife Leech, son William R. Butler of Coquille, daughter Mrs Emmett Mills of Coquille, and siblings Alden Butler, Mrs Florence Schnieder, and Mrs Maud Barklow. Dr. and Mrs. Gurney visited and praised the hospital community. Conner focuses on pediatrics and general practice.
