A road skeleton near the Norway creamery drew neighbors to an opening dig after a local patron uncovered a skull. Early examination by Dr. Stemmler suggested a female, possibly Indian or mixed ancestry, with ties to a buried 85 year old case.

Body of Roy Perkins Found Near Coos River Amid Murder Suspicion

Sighting of Perkins body follows his disappearance over a week ago with Frank Garrison in Coquille jail as a murder suspect. The body weighed with two 50 pound weights and bore a bullet wound in the head, found by government survey crews near the Coos river creamery plant. The case strengthens belief that Perkins was murdered, while the Bay area search overlooked that spot.

Chimney Collapse Damages Brick School Building

A brick chimney on the north side of a brick school building fell during roof work last Friday. Harry Kiubs and J S Whitaker were nearby. Kiubs fell through the roof but was saved from falling into the room, while Whitaker steadied himself and avoided injury. The roof is being completed and school is expected to reopen by the 26th.

Haines Survey Approved for Coos Bay to Roseburg Line

The Haines railroad survey between Coos Bay and Roseburg has been approved by the company trustees. Building funds are ready and once the construction details are set, work will begin promptly. The Roseburg Review notes the announcement is pending final steps.
