Garrison murder verdict and Salem execution looming

The jury found Garrison guilty of first degree murder in the Roy Perkins case. He faces hanging in Salem, with a possible appeal stay. sentence to be carried out 30 to 60 days after judgment. White was also sentenced to 15 years for manslaughter. Court adjourned to December 5. Shipping updates note 5000 cases of salmon aboard the Elizabeth destined for San Francisco.

Slide on Sugarloaf Mountain Blocks Road

A serious rock and earth slide on Sugarloaf Mountain above the school house last Monday night blocked the roadway. The outbound mail left at eight did not reach Bridge until six Tuesday morning. The new grade from summer cannot be used and likely won’t be this winter as slides continue. A trail around the big slide was made Tuesday for single horses and mail was rerouted.

Must Have Got Wet at Phythian Ball on Creamery Wharf

A Myrtle Point visitor at the Phyth ian ball in Bandon fell into the river three times after slips on loose planks and lost his hat once, finally retrieving it after a broomstick mishap. No name given, but he hailed from Myrtle Point. Ballard's Horehound Syrup advertised with a free porous plaster for chest congestion.

Thanksgiving Observances And Church Revival In Myrtle Point

Thanksgiving activities in Myrtle Point featured family dinners and local services at the Hermann building and Brethren church. A Christian Church revival drew crowds, with 37 members taking fellowship by Wednesday night and praise from singer Miss Roy. Rev Ray H Pierson, former M E pastor, has married in Ohio and now leads a San Francisco church.
