Chief of Gilbert arrested saloon keepers on Saturday night for permitting gambling. Sam Le paid a $100 fine. The action followed a period when several rooms were closed all day after the crackdown.
Frank Morse, manager of the Coquille River Electric Company, plans major upgrades at Johnson's Mill. A new sixteen ton eighty horsepower boiler will be placed west of Chico, boosting power to two hundred horsepower. A large building will house a new conveyor system to store and feed wood to the furnace, improving public services.
