Early returns show Roosevelt and Fairbanks winning HB county and sweeping doubtful states. New York and Pennsylvania yield large majorities, with Missouri possibly joining the Solid South in favor of Roosevelt. The president appears set for a historic popular vote margin surpassing McKinley’s 1900 totals, signaling a sweeping GOP victory.
Coos County gave Roosevelt a roughly 1200 vote lead while Parker trailed as many Democrats backed the Socialist Debs. Prohibition results were uncertain though the county likely stood 10 to 15 votes in a 120 vote tilt, North Bend voted wet by 175 and Marshfield by 106. Crews at the South Coos river hatchery plan expanding output to 6 million eggs and beyond, citing the hatchery’s success and need for capacity growth.
