Nine Hours Work and More Pay Given Men

Marshfield November 18 The Coos Bay Times reports the C A Smith Co announced a nine hour day and wage adjustments raising the minimum to 3 25 per day to take effect Thursday November 16 in mills with plans to extend to logging camps if successful. Overtime on Sunday and night shifts will be paid at time and a half. Arno Mereen, general manager, said no daily wage reduction.

Coos and Curry cheese factories plan continued association

At a Monday meeting managers from about a dozen cheese factories in Coos and Curry counties decided to continue the organization and arrange for inspection and sales again next year. An inspector and salesman will be hired after all factories sign up. another meeting will choose these positions.

Grand Opera at Unique Theatre Delights Audience

The Grand Opera program at the Unique Theatre last Thursday evening was a complete success. Miss Andrews impressed with familiar songs and encores, while Miss Smith drew praise for her portrayal and recitations. Manager Mr. Parker added humor with a story, and the whole program was remembered fondly by all attendees.
