Postmaster General Hitchcock announces twelve exclusive parcels post stamps to replace ordinary stamps for package forwarding. The three design series depict mail transport modes, postal workers, and four industries, with the first series featuring a mail car, steamship, delivery automobile, and air mail dispatch.
The article notes the principal sources of tomorrow's parcel post products and states stamps will be ready for distribution December 1 to supply 60 000 post offices before the January 1 law change.
Local attorney J. C. Stemmler received notice that the Rogeburg Land Office ruled in favor of his clients in the United States versus Higgins heirs. The testimony was taken before Commissioner Dodge in this city. Higgins heirs were represented by Stemmler and Binger Herman of Roseburg.

Gage appears far ahead for sheriff in Coquille valley, while Peirce leads Meredith for joint representative in Coos and Curry. Roosevelt and Wilson race tight, Hawley ahead for Congress, Lane slight edge for senator, and a quirky note on cattle policy in Bunker Hill with Bossy defeated 32 to 47. The City Council last Monday evening opened bids for bituminous street paving not previously funded. It adopted ordinances on assessments for completed improvements after two readings. A committee was appointed to examine temporary planking of Fourth and Fifth streets Spruce and Maple streets.
The Schooner Osprey of WedderBurn Trading Co. was wrecked on the Coos Bay bar jetty during entry last Friday morning. Captain Gus Johnson and four others are reported dead after rescue attempts by Captain Tyler of the Tug Roscoe and aviator Christopher son in his airship. Only a coat believed to be Engineer Johnson’s was found among the wreckage.
Harry Lane leads in Curry county for the United States senate with large-margin support. Partial returns report from Marshfield North Bend Myrtle Point Coquille and Lakeside show strong early voting patterns.
