Morning train to carry mail and passengers
Supt W F Miller of the Southern Pacific plans a new morning train from Marshfield to connect with river boats and return with incoming mail by 9 30. Hand Lost in Quarry Explosion Near Norway
Walter Ruhl, a Curry county resident employed at the Norway rock quarry, lost his right hand when a drill was driven through his hand by a blast about 11 yesterday forenoon. Six shots were fired. the drill was deepened and another charge placed, injuring Ruhl and Bert Clinton who narrowly escaped serious harm. The drill and debris scattered, the drill remains unfound in the swamp.

Portland Parcel Post Links Farmers to Consumers in City
The Portland post office designated in a federal experiment will compile a monthly list of local producers who can supply butter eggs fruits and nuts and general produce directly to consumers via parcel post. Names and addresses will be printed by the first of each month with deadlines the twentieth for inclusion. A 30 mile road from Prairie City to Long Creek is planned and the Eagle Valley News is now owned by E C Thorp of Des Moines Iowa.
