North Bend Grants Southern Pacific Franchise with Early Construction

North Bend city council quickly approved the Southern Pacific franchise and construction began the same morning. Roadmaster Haslet and crew laid ties and rails while Mayor Simpson drove the first spike, christening the project with a splash of milk. Officials say work will proceed under the contract with MacArthur Perks Co, with completion targeted by 1915.

President Campbell to Speak Across Coast in June Tour

President P L Campbell of Oregon State University arrived in the county last Tuesday riding Barnard Laird lines. He spoke in Bandon Tuesday evening North Bend Marshfield Coquille and here at the Unique Theatre Saturday June 1 with focus on educational work in Oregon.

Tent Caterpillar Control and Lime Sulphur Sprays This Season

Pervasive tent caterpillar damage across Coos County prompts a unified spray program. Quiet Coquille Wedding Sealed by Judge Holden

John A. Swedberg and Marguerite A. Ward were married in Judge E. D. G. Holden's office Monday night with minimal witnesses. Swedberg, a 35 year old Norwegian, moved to Coquille six months ago to work as chief engineer for Randolph mill. Ward, from Myrtle Point, has worked at Baxter hotel here. The couple will reside at Randolph as friends offer best wishes. Trespass notices offered at the ENTERPRISE office.

Passing Away of Pioneers and Local News Notes

Mrs. George Griffin died at her Ash Street home after a year and a half illness at age 55. She was born in 1857 in Michell County Iowa and lived in Oregon before moving to Bandon. Survived by husband two sisters and eleven children with seven living, funeral held with Rev. Barklow. burial Myrtle Point cemetery. Also notes on George Hyland of Mount Hood Railway praising Bitulithic paving and its advantages over Hassam.
