Prune and Hop Pest Study Underway in Oregon

Corvallis Oregon May 13 Experts from Oregon Agricultural College begin a major study of prune and hop crop diseases and insects. Prof H S Jackson and H F Wilson traveled to Salem to assess prune pests and two harmful insects were found in grafts. May 19 they move to Independence to study hop pests.

Hymen's Altar Marriage in City Home May 18 1911

Clarence R. Davis and Miss Nattie Williams married at a city home on Saturday evening May 18. Rev. Thomas Barklow officiated. Davis is son of Mrs Harmon Davis of Remote and Williams daughter of Mr and Mrs W Williams of Rock Creek. They will live with the groom's mother. Enterprise offers congratulations and best wishes.

Forest Fire Leaflet Circulates Widely on Pacific Coast

The Western Forestry and Conservation Association distributes 335000 illustrated leaflets to school children across Oregon Washington Idaho and Montana. Endorsed by state authorities the leaflet warns of forest fire danger and promotes protection and safety by answering questions about saving life and property.

Grading Contract Awarded for Maple Street Project

The city council awarded the Maple street grading contract from the railroad right of way to the east boundary line to J. J. Burns of North Bend. Estimated cost is about $4,000 and work will start as soon as the contractor can mobilize equipment.
