City nominating convention names mayor and council candidates
The city hall gathering Wednesday elected G. H. Guerin as chairman and W. F. Hendricks as secretary. Ballot nominations set the mayoral race with J. R. Benson 14 votes and Dr. Stemmler 13, while D. McNair and Chas. Adams vie for two council seats. Recorder I. E. Rose and city treasurer J. M. Arrington received near unanimous support.

Schooner Margoni Wrecked Off Coos Bay
The schooner Margoni of North Bend's Simpson Lumber company ran aground on the Coos Bay mouth while being towed out. All crew were saved after heroic rescue by Nann Smith’s captain Olesen and life savers. Built in 1901-2, the Margoni carried 900000 to 1000000 feet of lumber, valued at 60000 to 75000 dollars with no insurance.
