At a special Myrtle Point Commercial Club meeting held in City Hall on Tuesday evening the club voted to endorse Chas Hall for appointment to the Oregon State Highway Commission. Secretary Giles was directed to notify Hall at Marshfield and to wire Governor Withycombe urging Hall's appointment to represent the district on the commission.

Coos Bay Times reports the C A Smith Lumber and Manufacturing Co raises wages for all Coos Bay employees effective March 1 1917. Snow Storm Strands Myrtle Point Residents Without Light
Two days of heavy snow left Myrtle Point without power and telephone service as wires fell casualty to the storm. J. L. Knight reports nearly all stock traced on Catching Creek range, save one steer possibly hid in brush. Snow depths ranged from two feet to thirty inches in lower areas and three to four feet in high hills.

Hap Holbrook of Bandon and Art Fish of Powers tied a six round main event with Fish awarded the decision on a foul. Both are strong, evenly matched. A likely rematch at Powers is planned. Harry Miller defeated Prosper Hontuc in the preliminary.
