Daniel Barklow received a plea from his son in law J L Barker who had moved to Southern California and died before Barklow could reach Bakersfield. Barker suffered lung trouble for months and his remains were sent to Myrtle Point for a Church of the Brethren service. Obituary to follow next week.

Keel Laying Underway for New Smith Company Vessel Portland
The Morning Oregonian reports ship carpenters began laying the keel of a steam schooner for the Interocean Transportation Company at the Stander Clarkson yard in North Portland Harbor. The vessel, 269 feet long with a 60 foot beam, will transport lumber from the C A Smith Co. plant on Coos Bay and is expected to be completed by August. Contracts in force total over 1,000,000 dollars.
