Railroad Wins C and C Land Case

Washington June 21 The government failed to forfeit unsold portions of the Oregon and California railroad land grant totaling about 2 300% acres valued over 80 million dollars The railroad was barred from further sales until Congress acts A large cross set of settlers and applicants claimed rights while Oregon intervened to protect tax interests and a trustee company also joined the suit The decision affects Coos Bay and Coos County with many waiting bidders and agents involved in land purchases and tender schemes
