Runaway Team and Injury in Reedford

Leonard Hartley bought a young team and drove out to haul gravel. The horses balked and bolted toward town, shedding wagon bed fragments. Hartley leapt from the wagon, injuring his ankle. he was bruised and shaken. The team crossed a bridge to the Barklow property, with bruised heels and a puncture in one horse’s side sewn up later.

Dairymen Gather for Coquille Valley Meeting at Benson House

The Coquille Valley Dairymen's association met in a monthly session at the Benson opera house in the city on Wednesday. President Eddy presided and Secretary Hanley attended. Attendance was fair though not as large as hoped for Myrtle Point's dairy center. The session was interesting with talks worthwhile to local dairymen.

Tidal Wave Destroys Rogue River Shorefront Boats

A small tidal wave swept the Rogue River shore last Thursday night causing major damage along the waterfront. Moored boats were hurled ashore or swept away while shingles owned by D. M. Moore were scattered. the Clipper launched from its moorings, found broken on the beach. Carl Stewart had just hauled and painted his boat when the disaster struck.

Farm Residence Burns at Gravel Ford

At noon yesterday the residence of Walter Bennett at Gravel Ford burned to the ground. Neighbors, including Mr. Henriett who is sick, were working in his fields when the blaze started, and they were able to save most of the house before it collapsed.

June Wedding at Presbyterian Church in Our City

The wedding of Edgar Hall Chaney and Blanche Van Valkenburg took place last weekday morning at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Geo. Wi officiating. The ceremony, beneath a bell of white roses, followed by a wedding breakfast at Hotel Gueriff, sent the couple toward Roseburg for their wedding trip as Chaney, a Chaney Lumber Co. head, and Blanche, a Bandon native, begin married life amid many well wishes.

Will Build Railroad This Summer In Oregon

In Portland yesterday President F H Clarke of the Coos Bay Boise road said construction would start by September 1 and the line would reach Roseburg by July 1, 1912 after surveys for the entire route were finished. He declined to reveal the financial backers of the project.
